USB MIDI Hub

Connect USB MIDI things together without a computer!

Do you want all your USB MIDI things to talk to each other, and get power, from one little box? Like controlling the KOII from a USB MIDI keyboard for example?

I’m not the first one to make this, but I want to spread the word that this is a thing to do, and show off my personal one, because mine uses a Pi Zero with a usb hub hat, making it about half the size of the ones that use a full-on Raspberry Pi, continuing the tiny MIDI trend I’ve been on.

To do this the easiest way, just get a Raspberry Pi (3B or 4B) and download Balena Etcher, then use Etcher to burn the .img file from Neuma Studio on an SD card, and you have a hub for USB MIDI action. It does not actually need the display in order to work.

This person has instructions and an image file for a Raspberry Pi Zero, which is what I used.

I used:
the stackable Zero4U USB Hub Hat with pogo pins
this C4Labs Zebra Case that goes with this Hub
and topped it off with an extra panel from this C4Labs laser lime case.

I also filled a couple of the ports with these light-up USB-C adaptors.
